Severe Weather Guidelines
Training sessions and games will only be cancelled (or postponed) if there is a threat of severe weather or if there is too much standing water on the field. Sessions will not be cancelled because of rain alone. If rain is expected during a training session, we recommend that players wear dri-fit training tops, fleece, or breathable rain gear. We also recommend that players bring a waterproof bag to keep their belongings dry.
If a training session is canceled, parents and players will be contacted by the Lightning Office or by their team manager before 2:00 PM on the day of the session. Parents and players should check the Lightning website and their emails if the weather is questionable on the day of a training session or a game. If weather conditions are uncertain or if weather conditions degrade just before the start of the session, parents and players should call their coach or their team manager; contact information for coaches and team managers can be found on each team's Shutterfly site.
In the event of thunder and lightning during a training session or a game, LSC coaches will immediately clear players from the field and seek shelter. If there is no shelter nearby, then players will be moved to the safety of cars. Coaches will wait 30 minutes after the last thunder or lightning strike before resuming training.
Winter Training: During the winter months, we ask that parents and players use their judgement when traveling to the Barn at KUA for training sessions. We understand that weather and road conditions vary throughout the area. If a session is not canceled and you do not feel safe driving - please stay home!
Parents: If weather conditions degrade severely during a training session, please make arrangements to pick up your player as soon as possible.
