2016-17 Player Winter Training
Under the guidance of Lightning Soccer's Director of Coaching, Charles Mhlauri, LSC is offering Winter Training in the beautiful 50x80 yard indoor field known as “The Barn” at Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, NH! Keep your game sharp through the winter by scrimmaging in small-sided games on regular basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for continued development, and highly recommended for all Lightning travel team players. We also welcome guest players ages 11-19 (soccer players who are not on a LSC travel team) to take advantage of this great indoor soccer training opportunity. Training sessions will be offered on an alternating day schedule this winter, which we hope will facilitate the participation of as many winter sport athletes as possible. Additionally, LSC will be offering both field player and goalkeeper sessions. LSC coaches (Charles Mhlauri, Mo Gumond, Wayne Munger and Courtney Jackson) will run field player sessions and LSC goalkeeper coaches will run goalkeeper sessions.
2016-2017 Winter Training Schedule
LSC is offering a "snaking schedule" format of training this winter -- training on different days of the week. Age group training sessions and goalkeeper sessions will be offered roughly one session per week. For those who register for both field player and goalkeepers sessions, they will have roughly 2 sessions per week.

Current Travel Team Players:
All enrolled 2016-17 LSC travel team players, whose accounts are in good standing, may participate in Winter Training at no additional cost. There is no additional registration required - you are already signed up. Simply go to the Winter Training Shutterfly site for your age group to see your schedule and submit your availability for each session. Current travel team players should wear their training kit (gray training jersey, black shorts & black socks) to all winter training sessions. Wear street shoes/boots to the Barn and change into your cleats inside (to avoid tracking in dirt, wet snow, salt, etc -- which permanently stays on the indoor turf and causes damage.)
- U11-U19 Guest Players: Players who wish to participate in Winter Training and are not on a Lightning team are welcome to participate in our winter training program. There is a $190 fee for winter training (for field player or goalkeeper sessions) or $380 for BOTH field player and goalkeeper sessions and guest players must submit the Winter Training Online Registration Form to register. Guest field players should wear a plain gray t-shirt, black shorts, and black socks for training sessions and goalkeepers should wear their goalkeeper jersey and shorts and bring GK gloves. Wear street shoes/boots to the Barn and change into your cleats inside (to avoid tracking in dirt, wet snow, salt, etc -- which permanently stays on the indoor turf and causes damage.)
- U10 & under Players: If you are not on a travel team this year, the Winter Advantage Program will be your best fit for winter training. Exceptions may include intermediate level players who want to tryout this winter for a spring travel team. Please contact the office by either phone or email to ask about the best placement for your son/daughter.
Schedule / Attendance: All currently registered travel team players and all registered guest players will be automatically added to a Winter Training Shutterfly site that's specific to the age groups that have the same session schedule. (Guest players must register online first to be added to the winter training sites.) These websites will provide your training session schedule, an attendance/availability form that you need to keep up to date, and a carpool helper page that will assist in organizing carpools for each training session.

Want to Try Out for a Spring Team? Players interested in trying out for a spring team are encouraged to arrange a tryout at one of our Winter Training sessions. Contact the office via email or phone to make arrangements for your tryout date.
Policies on Pricing, Pro-rating and Foul Weather: There is no pro-rating of the winter training fee. Payment is for the entire session, regardless of the number of days a player attends. There are no make-up days due to weather cancellations, which will be posted on the LSC website by 2:00 PM on the day of training and notices emailed to all participants.
Withdrawals/Refunds: Please see the Camp, Clinic & Program Withdrawal/Refund Policy, which also applies to Winter Training for guest players.
