COURSE DATES/TIMES: March 2-4, 2012: Friday evening 5:30 pm -11 pm, Saturday 9 am - 6 pm, Sunday 9 am - 6 pm
REQUIREMENTS: No prerequisites, but participants must be 16 years or older (participants under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult).
LOCATION: Check--in on Friday, March 2nd at MILLER HALL, Main Street (across from the little white Post Office), campus of Kimball Union Academy, Meriden, NH. Note: the field portions of the course will occur either in the gym or on the turf field (weather/light depending).
COST:
For LSC Coaches: $50 (Bring cash or check written to LSC)
For non-LSC Coaches: $105 (Bring cash or check written to NSCAA)
WHAT TO BRING/WEAR:
Although it is not required, you may be asked to participate in order to illustrate the instructors' sessions, so wear comfortable clothes and bring extra gear if necessary. We recommend you bring a water bottle, pen or pencil, notebook, flats (if we are indoors in the gym) and cleats (if we can be outside on the turf). (Note: Candidates with any disabilities or health concerns that might limit their participation in activities should notify us before the start of the course.)
INSTRUCTORS:
Gary Cook - Regional Technical Director and Associate National Staff Coach for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Coached soccer for over 30 years. Varsity Coach, Wilbraham & Monson Academy, coach for Western United Football Club, twice state champions. Serves as the Massachusetts High School Coaches Prep representative, president for 10 years of the Western New England Prep School Soccer Association.
Felicity Day - After being named All-American Mary Washington College, Felicity went on to play for Arsenal Women's Team in England. Felicity progressed to coach at the collegiate level for two years and is now the full-time Coaching Director at John Smith Soccer Schools and Sports Center in Milford, MA. Day has received her NSCAA Premier Diploma in coaching, one of a handful of women in the country to have received this highest coaching qualification With Distinction. She is now on the NSCAA Academy Coaching Staff. Day was inducted into the University of Mary Washington's Sports Hall of Fame in October 2009.
LEVEL VI COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Formerly known as the Advanced Regional Diploma, the Junior Level VI Diploma is a 21-hour course for U11-U18 players that shares a portion of its curriculum with the NSCAA Junior Level V Diploma. The Junior Level VI Diploma adds an eight-hour segment to the 13-hour Junior Level V Diploma curriculum, devoted to technical and tactical uses of small-sided games, the study of systems of play and a practice teaching component. Participants are given an opportunity to conduct a training session on an assigned topic and are assessed by the course instructor. All candidates must be at least 16 years of age at the time of application. If a candidate is under 18 years of age, an adult must accompany him or her for the duration of the course.
