FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hanover, NH
- December 16, 2011
Lightning Soccer Club
(LSC) was selected by the United Soccer Leagues to participate in the 2012
Super Y-League season. LSC will host four premier teams in the spring and
summer of 2012, including U14, U15, U16 boys and U16 girls. “We are working hard
to further our program offerings for our most competitive teams and players,”
said Charles Mhlauri, Director of Coaching for LSC and former head coach of the
Zimbabwe National Team. “The Super Y-League offers these players not only a
chance to compete against some of the strongest clubs in the US and Canada, but
a chance to be identified for the United States National Team Programs.” Teams
who finish at the top of their respective divisions are invited to compete in
the Super Y-League national championships in Tampa, Florida in December.
The Super Y-League,
founded in 1999, is dedicated to the progression of future professional
players. Averaging 700 teams since 2004, the Super Y-League has steered the
course for development of elite clubs, players, and coaches. Affiliated with US
Soccer, the Super Y-League Olympic Development Program has opened countless
doors for players to be identified for U.S. National Team Programs. The Super
Y-League contains the youth academies of Major League Soccer clubs, USL PRO
clubs, Premier Development League and W-League clubs.
Participation on a Lightning
Super Y team will be by invitation and will include players from Lightning and
other premier clubs in New England. Further details about Lightning Super Y
will be forthcoming.
