Frequently Asked Questions about New Spring Program and Pricing
What is the difference between a Granite State Team and New England Premiership Team? How will LSC determine in which league the team will compete? New England Premiership Teams will be competing in the New England Premiership League (NEP), a new youth soccer league in New England hosting teams from some of New England's most competitive clubs (www.nepremiership.com). Granite State Teams will compete in the Granite State Youth Soccer league (www.granitestatesoccer.com). Immediately after tryouts when teams are formed, LSC will assess the level of competition most appropriate for each team and designate each team as a Granite State or New England Premiership team. Notification on the team’s level of play will be announced at the same time rosters are announced for Spring 2010.
By accepting a position on a New England Premiership team, you are accepting a slightly greater commitment in time and fees. A NEP team will compete against clubs from other states in New England, requiring greater travel distances for away games. NEP teams U12 and older will be enrolled in State Cup for New Hampshire with at least three incremental games in southeastern New Hampshire. If the team wins State Cup or is awarded a wild card, you are also committing to participation in the Region 1 Tournament to be held in West Virginia in 2010.
What does it mean if my child is "Player Pool" or "Alternate" for a travel team? Player Pool is a training-only option offered to motivated players who wish to improve their skills to compete at the travel level. Pool players participate in training with the travel team, but they do not compete in games. Player Pool fees are $200 for Spring 2010.
If a player is designated as an "Alternate" for a NEP team, they will train with the team and be invited to compete in games as space permits (if another player is sick or can not make a game). Alternate player fees are $225 for Spring 2010.
When does indoor training start?
Indoor training will begin in early March and sessions will be held either at Grantham Indoor or at KUA in Meriden.
How are club fees spent?
Lightning Soccer Club is a nonprofit organization supported not only by club fees but by the generous donation of time of its volunteer board of directors, parent assistants, and parent team managers. All club fees are used to cover out-of-pocket operating costs. Typical break down of club expenses are as follows:
